It’s time to make time for you Mamma!
This is the blog where you can kick off your shoes, unhook your bra and pour yourself a drink. In fact I encourage you to do so. When was the last time you filled up your Mamma Self-Care cup?
Perhaps its sitting sadly on the shelf collecting dust. Do you really understand what Self-Care means? As Mother’s we are always so busy fulfilling our children’s needs, our partner's needs, family and friends needs... but what about YOU?
I encourage you to think about these questions honestly
What brings you peace and fulfilment other than being a mother?
What do you enjoy doing when there are no children around?
What is something you did prior to having children that you don’t do or hardly ever do now?
What is your current emotional state? Are you tired, worn out or resentful?
When was the last time you made an effort to look and feel sexy inside and out?
When was the last time you had some uninterrupted rest to relax without children around?
What do you need ?
I am so passionate about the topic of Self-Care because it is something I lacked it in my life for such a long time. I was so busy being the 'perfect' mother organising amazing play opportunities for my children and making sure my house was immaculate and dinner was ready for my husband when he got home. I was ignoring my own Self-Care needs and interests. Finally everything came crashing down in 2015 after the birth of my third son. I was diagnosed with Post-natal Depression and was admitted to a Mother-Baby mental health hospital for a week to rest. I could not maintain my family situation if I wasn’t taking care of my own needs as well. The importance of maintaining your own identity is so important .
You are more than just a mother!
It’s time to rediscover your former self . You may not have an hour and a half to get yourself ready to look amazing like you once did but there are ways in which you can go about your day slipping in time for you here and there all the while still being a loving and dedicated Mother.
